These days of cold sunshine are glorious! How lucky we've been to have this stretch of fine weather around a holiday weekend (at least, for all of you who get holiday weekends). I hope you've been outside admiring the sky! My roommates and I slipped off to the islands to join my parents for Thanksgiving and spent a few lovely days practicing at gluttony and leisure. If you ate half as well as we did, or went on walks half so lovely, you did well by your holiday too! In more immediately relevant news, I'm skipping the market today in favor of Art on Tap, a Bellingham-made holiday craft fair in the Alley District (behind Altility, a block and a half south of the farmers market). I have a limited amount of bread, and some wonderful treats. Come by today or tomorrow to do your holiday shopping and grab a snack!
Hey Gobblers. It's the season for feasting! Are you ready to eat? I have the following baked goods to add to your Thanksgiving table:
Dinnertime: Table Bread: Family sized loaf of rustic, whole grain sourdough. 1.6 kg / 3.5 lb | $12 Crusty Rosemary Rolls: Ready for butter and cranberry sauce. 1 dozen | $12 Sweet & Sourdough Cornbread: A little tangy, a little sweet, all delicious. Serves 8 | $10 with bacon & caramelized onions Serves 8 | $14 Sweet Treats: Apple Quince Pear Pie: A celebration of our fall bounty. Sweet, tart, and subtly floral. Serves 8-12 | $32 Burnt Sugar Pumpkin Pie: Decadent and complex, with just a hint of bitter caramel under the creamy sweetness. Serves 8-12 | $32 Seriously Gingerbread: Dark, bitter, and spicy. For those who want a less traditional end to the meal, this grownup gingerbread takes the cake! Serves 8-12 | $32 Pickup from the Saturday farmers market (11/21) or my front porch the day before the Big Day (11/25). Download the attached order form (or pick up a print copy from me on Saturday) and return it with a check by next Wednesday (11/18). Download the order form here (60 KB .pdf) The light is magic right now, soft and low, without the bluster of summer or the detachment of winter. I'm grateful again every morning I bike down Cornwall and see the clouds catching the pink of sunrise and tangling in the Chuckanuts. This landscape holds my heart.
I'm moving out from under the sky and into the market depot for the rest of the season. This morning will find me working to squeeze ten feet of setup into a six foot spot. Stop by to view my booth contortions, and to taste all the favors of fall: oat & apple, pear & sesame, stout & toasted farro, corn & cinnamon. Nothing new and crazy, but plenty of old favorites. |
